You sometimes need to edit the address book or a contact in Android? Your friend has a new email address? Your girlfriend has a new phone number? YourWhatsApp contact uses a new phone number? No problem, we explain how you can easily edit an existing contact.
Edit contact via Contacts app
- First, open the Contacts app on your Android device. You will find it in the app overview with an icon of a schematic figure.
- To edit a contact, tap on the corresponding contact in the list. You can also swipe down the list. If you swipe at the front of the letters, you will get to the contacts with the corresponding first letters faster
- The overview of your selected contact will now open
Here you also have the option to directly write an SMS or send a message via WhatsApp. And of course, the contact can be called here by tapping on the number.
- Now tap on the pencil icon at the upper right edge (next to the three dots) and you will see the following page:
- Here you can now adjust the individual data. Tapping the number immediately opens the on-screen keyboard. By tapping on the X at the right edge, the entry is deleted directly. If you only want to enter another number, then tap on “Phone” and enter the new number there.
- Tap on “More fields” to display all information. Here you can also enter e.g. the address or the birthday:
- Confirm your entries by tapping on the check mark in the upper right corner (next to the three dots) and the contact will be saved.
If you want to add a new contact to the address book, you can simply follow these instructions.
Changing the phone number in WhatsApp
Your contact writes you that he or she has a new number? In this case you need our instructions. In the address book, simply change the number as described above. Then simply start a new chat with your contact in WhatsApp.
