- Scroll down to the item “Music” and click on it
- Here you can now select whether the last played music should be automatically downloaded to the watch. To do this, click the button to the right of the “Last played” item until it turns green.
- You can now also download more music to the Apple Watch by clicking on “Add music…” at the bottom. From there, select a playlist or album from your library that you’d like to download to the Apple Watch and confirm with the plus icon at the top right.

Loading music to Apple Watch takes forever
Overall, loading music to the Apple Watch already feels relatively complicated – first selecting it via iPhone, then putting it on the charger. Most of the time, however, it is now additionally the case that loading music onto the Apple Watch can take forever. This is due to the fact that the watch synchronizes the tracks via various wireless connections.
Many users report that turning off the Bluetooth connection should help. The Apple Watch then switches to the much faster Wi-Fi connection. This is indeed the case
Simply go to the settings of your iPhone and turn off Bluetooth. It is important that you go via the settings and not via the control center – because the connection is not disconnected for connected devices there. After that, the iPhone will complain that Bluetooth needs to be re-enabled. Just ignore it by pressing “Cancel”. Now songs are loaded much faster – usually a song then only needs around five seconds.

Delete music on Apple Watch
If you want to delete a playlist or album, go back to the Watch app on your iPhone:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone
- Scroll down to the item “Music” and click on it
- Swipe left on the playlist or album and confirm with “Delete” on the right side.
The music will now be removed from your Apple Watch. However, you can load it back onto the watch at any time.
Our conclusion
If you want to download music to the Apple Watch, then you should have some patience. This is because this function requires you to go via the iPhone on the one hand, and on the other hand, the Apple Watch has to be on the charger when loading albums or playlists.
It is not clear to us why the watch cannot load the songs independently via WLAN on the Apple Watch. Technology is all the options for this and it would make the watch one step more self-sufficient.
